Installation

Two commands to get your project ready.

1. Install the package

  • Installs @yaawn/agent-skills into your project.
  • Carries the skill files, instructions, output styles, and issue templates.

2. Run the install command

  • Copies the files into .agents/, .yaawn/, and .github/.
  • Asks for your team's definition-of-done tasks and writes them into .yaawn/yaawn-definition-of-done.md.
  • Leaves .yaawn/ tracked by git, so plans, logs, and your answers are shared with the team.
  • Keeps your answers across updates.

Prerequisites

What you need before running the first skill.

Required tools

Node.js

Install Node.js (includes npm). The skills are installed with npm and the overnight orchestrator runs on Node.js via tsx.

macOS caffeinate

Overnight execution (/yaawn-execute-plan) uses caffeinate to keep your Mac awake until the run finishes. Ships with macOS — no installation needed.

Sign in to your agent

GitHub CLI

Your agent uses it to read and edit issues; the overnight Copilot sessions use it to read them.

GitHub Copilot CLI

Required on your PATH for overnight execution.

Mistral Vibe

Claude Code

Anthropic's agent CLI. Run claude once to sign in.

Required labels

Create these labels in your repository. The issue templates and skills rely on them.

  • Story New features delivering user value
  • Bug Defects or incorrect behavior
  • Refactor Technical improvements without behavior change
  • Spike Research or investigation before implementation
  • To Be Refined Applied to new issues by the templates
  • parallel Sub-issues from /yaawn-split-story picked up by /yaawn-execute-plan

Symlink your agents to .agents

The install command copies the skills, instructions, and output styles into .agents/ in your project root.

Vibe, Copilot, and Claude each discover skills from their own folder. Symlink each of them to .agents/ so every agent reads the same installed skills.
